Micro piles are generally slender columnar elements in a foundation, which have the function of transferring load from the super structure through weak compressible strata on to stiffer or more compact and less compressible soils or on to rock. In some cases, it may require to carry uplift loads or sets as tension piles. The size usually ranges from 150 to 30 mm diameter.
The micro piles is the Idea choice when normal bored pile is unsuitable due to head room constraint and close proximity to existing buildings. Therefore, micropiles is used extensively for upgrading and under pinning works. |
